![]() This means that every colony you're going to have to be balancing a different selection of resources to harvest, colonist needs, and production buildings available to meet those needs. ![]() You get to draw from a pool of techs as your colony grows and you complete objectives, but you'll never be able to build all of them. Each species has different housing, luxury, and dietary desires. Within each settlement, you have up to 3 out of 5 different species of colonist, semi-randomly selected per colony. Each biome produces different resources and none of them produce all of them. You can pick from a variety of biomes to settle in as well as choosing to accept or avoid various challenges. Beating the game involves completing a number of these objectives over time. There's a randomly generated overworld map, where the goal is to build a series of colonies out towards an objective before the next major storm comes and wipes out and resets the overworld.Well, let me lay out how the game/metagame goes, and you can decide for yourself. The only real complaint I have is that the prestige difficulty system is very weirldly paced right now, with some step-ups being trivial to handle and others being so impactful that they basically force you down specific choices and strategies (thinking of you, Prestige 5 building construction takes 50% more stuff). This game was great when I first played it all that time ago, but the fact that they've constantly been able to single out issues and improve on them without making the game worse in other areas is fantastic. The foxes are great as well, and the rainwater changes + pump automation upgrade is an amazing solution to the 'new' blightrot system's problems. I haven't seen any new biomes just yet though, I hope more of those come as for me they're by far the most defining part of the embark. ![]() The new modifiers on the world map are also great. Now decision choices have two different sets of requirements for the two outcomes, so even if you really want Outcome A, you may only be able to forfil the requirements for Outcome B, and you really want to clear it ASAP. ![]() I went back to this recently after waiting a few patches, and it genuinely impresses me how consistent they are at improving things. ![]()
